The Södermanland Police Area is one of the police areas in the East region and operates throughout Södermanland County. The geographical area spans nine municipalities. The Södermanland Police Area is divided into three local police areas: Eskilstuna, Katrineholm, and Nyköping. At the police area level, there is an investigation section and a police area office. Within the local police area of Nyköping, there are intervention and crime prevention activities, investigation groups, traffic operations, as well as support and service.
Within the police authority, there is also the opportunity for you as a civilian employee to undergo a business-integrated orientation towards becoming a police officer. If you are interested in becoming a police officer, we encourage you in that direction.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
You will belong to a group consisting of a group leader, preliminary investigation leader, and investigators. You will work with criminal investigations primarily concerning volume crimes, such as violent crimes, theft, drug offenses, traffic cases, and special penalties or youth crime.
Your tasks involve handling incoming cases in the local police area, and the cases vary greatly. Depending on the complexity of the case, you will sometimes work independently and sometimes in close collaboration with your colleagues. You will conduct interviews with witnesses, victims, and suspects. Other investigative measures such as writing seizure protocols, handling cases with detained individuals, recording reports, and analyzing, processing, and compiling information are common tasks. In this role, you will also have contact with external actors such as prosecutors, legal representatives, and social services.
The position involves daytime work, as well as evenings or weekends as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
This is an opportunity for you who have:
- Relevant post-secondary education in criminology, sociology, social sciences, behavioral sciences, or law, or equivalent work experience as deemed by the employer.
- Experience in independent investigative work.
- Good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.
- Driver's license B.
It is meritorious if you also have:
- Relevant experience from law enforcement agencies.
- Training and experience in conversation methodology or equivalent.
- Experience working with people in vulnerable situations.
Personal qualities
In the role of investigator, you will have many contact points both externally and internally, which is why it is important that you possess both good collaboration and communication skills. Furthermore, you are proactive and can drive your work forward and identify what needs to be done. Since we work in a response-driven operation, you must be flexible and stress-resistant, and quickly adapt while keeping up with developments and taking in what is new.
We will place great emphasis on personal qualities.
